The Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) project is the flagship project of the Thai government, with the aim to develop a special development zone in the Eastern part of the country which will spearhead Thailand’s digitization and 5G deployment. Thailand is among the first countries in the region to adopt 5G and more than 80% of EEC‘s promoted area already has 5G coverage. Given its competitive industries, modern ICT infrastructure, R&D facilities, EEC’s regulatory sandbox feature, and strong demands, the EEC has a favorable ecosystem for the business opportunities in 5G-related services for industries and smart cities in areas such as smart electronics, IoT sensors, data analytics, AI services, cloud services platforms, and digital content.
