Smart Urban Areas: Industry Conference of the Wilo Group in Singapore

Population shifts from rural to urban areas bring many challenges. Today, about half of the world’s population already lives in cities, and more and more people are moving from rural to metropolitan areas. In these booming regions, the demand for energy and water is increasing as they grow, putting existing infrastructure to the test.

In 2050 urban areas will be home of around 70 per cent of the world’s population. In order to manage this expected growth, urban areas need to be smart. With our 2023 Industry Conference entitled "Smart Urban Areas - Connecting minds for a multilateral world", we put a spotlight on digital transformation as a key factor for sustainable development, the risks of decoupling, and the positive impact of joint collaboration between industry, politics and society.
