German India Business Summit

18. November 2020, Online

India has emerged as the fastest growing major economy of the world and is on the path of becoming one of the top three economies over the next decade. Germany is India’s most significant and reliable partner internationally and also India’s largest trade partner in the Europe with turnover of about Euro 22 billion. There is a vast scope for investment by the German companies in India and vice-versa.

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has also emphasized the priority of attracting foreign direct investment and continued efforts of the Government of India to liberalize the regulatory environment, as well as, further to improve the ease of doing business. During India-EU 15th Summit discussions, he invited European businesses to utilise the opportunities in India and conveyed that Aatmnirbhar Bharat (Self-Reliant India) is aimed at integrating domestic production in India to global supply chains. One of the most important outcomes of the India-EU Summit was the setting up of a high-level dialogue on trade and investment relations, which will discuss all trade and market issues, as well as supply chain linkages. India is attracting many global majors for strategic investments owing to the presence of vast range of industries, investment avenues and a supportive government. Huge population, mostly comprising the youth, is a strong driver for demand and an ample source of manpower.

In the words of Hon’ble Prime Minister, India offers the three 'Ds' for business to thrive - democracy, demography and demand. India's manufacturing sector has evolved through several phases - from the initial industrialization and liberalization and to the current phase of global competitiveness. These opportunities may be in terms of partnerships, collaborations or joint ventures. These may be in R&D, manufacturing, distributorship or local support. These may even be in terms of survey, sales or marketing where foreign companies may seek information on India and its market.

In view of the above and to provide greater insight into the possible synergies for cooperation between India and Germany; the Consulate General of India, Hamburg together with Global Indian Network Community (GINCO-Bremen), Hochschule Bremen, Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), Indian Business Forum (IBF-Hamburg), Indian Entrepreneurs Forum (IEF-Germany), German Asia-Pacific Business Association (OAV-Hamburg), BVMW-German Association for Small and Medium-sized Businesses and Invest India is organizing the 2nd edition of “German-Indian Business Summit” on Wednesday, 18th November 2020 (1000-1300 hrs.
