In recent years, China has introduced a series of laws and regulations to enhance data protection. On March 22 this year, the Cyberspace Administration of China promulgated the Provisions on Regulating and Facilitating Cross-Border Data Flow. Given these provisions a renewed view on data transfer regulations is recommended. Under certain circumstances, the administrative requirement of security assessment, standard contract recordal or personal information protection certification for cross-border transfer of data can be set aside.
