[ABGESAGT] Business Opportunities in Nepal: Cross-sectoral Business Mission
19. June 2023 - 24. June 2023, Nepal
*** Business Mission to Nepal has been cancelled ***
According to the World Bank, Nepal is heading in the right direction to become a middle-income country by 2030. The International Monetary Fund also forecasted strong growth. Even if the Covid crisis slowed this dynamic, internationally supported projects, e.g. post-earthquake reconstruction and a significant reduction in poverty will continue to provide more reliable universal electricity supplies. A number of legislative projects to encourage foreign direct investment and the domestic economy are also having a positive impact.
Nepal is certainly a dream destination for any mountain sport enthusiast, but for German companies, it has only been a niche market thus far. Yet, on closer inspection, it offers attractive business opportunities for various industries: With its high mountains, numerous glaciers, and rivers, Nepal has great potential in renewable energies, i.e. climate-friendly water and solar power generation. The mostly untapped hydropower capacity is estimated at an enormous 83 GW and thanks to strong UV radiation in high altitude regions, there are also plenty of opportunities in solar energy. Moreover, the Nepalese government has launched a comprehensive reform program for public healthcare. For foreign companies in the field of medical technology, new opportunities exist in the provision and servicing of laboratory and hospital equipment. Further, the pharmaceutical sector, the IT sector as well as media and film industry offer potentials for German businesses.
We cordially invite you to a Cross-sectoral Business Mission led by OAV, in cooperation with Nepal Secretariat of Skills and Training (NSST). The delegation trip will provide an intensive program of company and project site visits, meetings with ministries and investment bodies, programs of technical and vocation education, and networking events in and around Kathmandu that is scheduled for 19 to 23 June 2023.
