Nepal, with its vast river systems and mountainous terrain, holds immense potential for hydropower generation. The country is eager to increase its own hydropower capacities tenfold and is active in attracting substantial foreign direct investments (FDI). As the country seeks to harness this natural resource, hydropower has emerged as a key driver for economic growth, energy security, and sustainable development. However, the benefits and challenges of hydropower extend beyond Nepal's borders, influencing regional cooperation, energy trade, and environmental sustainability.
