Emerging Bangladesh – New opportunities from manufacturing to research & development

06. April 2025 - 10. April 2025, Bangladesch

We cordially invite you to the cross-industry business mission ‘Emerging Bangladesh - New Opportunities from Contract Manufacturing to Research & Development’, which the OAV is organising to Dhaka and Chattogram (Chittagong) from 6 to 10 April 2025.

Bangladesh with its 170 million inhabitants is one of the most dynamic markets in Asia-Pacific with growth rates of six to seven per cent in recent years – yet is often overlooked. The interim government of Nobel Peace Prize Winner Prof. Muhammad Yunus strives for a comprehensive reform agenda attracting foreign investment. Bangladesh is expected to cross the threshold from a ‘Least Developed Country’ to a ‘Middle Income Country’ in 2026 thanks to its considerable economic development successes.

Classic export goods from Bangladesh continue to be clothing and textiles as well as natural fibres and related products. However, bicycles and pharmaceutical products from Bangladesh have also made a name for themselves internationally. In the infrastructure sector, numerous expansion and modernisation projects offer investment opportunities for the German construction and supply industry. There are also initial investments in high-tech sectors such as ICT or research and development. A lively start-up scene has also developed.

The OAV's business mission provides German companies with contacts to political and economic decision-makers in Bangladesh. Visits to local and German companies on site as well as networking events in Dhaka and Chattogram reveal concrete business potential. There are also plans for the delegation to take part in the Bangladesh International Investment Summit 2025. The mission will be accompanied by representatives from the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action and the Federal Foreign Office.

We would like to invite interested company representatives to a virtual briefing in which our experts, including the German Ambassador in Dhaka, will shed light on the political and economic developments in Bangladesh since summer 2024. Together, we will discuss the current opportunities and risks for investments and answer your questions about business mission.

The virtual briefing will take place on Monday, 17 February from 11:00 to 12:30 CET. We look forward to your participation! Registration is required to take part in the preliminary meeting. Please register here.
