2nd Purchasing Initiative India

11. August 2025 - 29. August 2025, Online

With the 2nd Purchasing initiative India in 2025, the BME is now including another growth market in its programme. German buyers will have the opportunity for the second time to get to know Indian suppliers in pre-scheduled online B2B meetings from 11 until 29 August 2025. As an emerging procurement market, India offers unique opportunities and is a very attractive region for alternative and second-source procurement in times of supply shortages. Together with the AHK India and the German Asia-Pacific Business Association (OAV), the BME will identify suitable suppliers in the market on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) and prepare them for the event in information seminars.

The initiative focuses on the product groups of metal construction, cast and forged parts, stamped and bent parts, injection moulding, plastic and electronic components, welded assemblies, assembly, production material and drawing parts. The demand-oriented focus on selected product groups leads to qualified and efficient access to the local supplier market for German small and medium-sized companies, as it is a project-related funding measure as part of the market development programme for SMEs.

Although many international companies are aware of the extensive Indian supplier landscape, it still holds a great deal of untapped potential. On the one hand, the geographically extensive and structurally fragmented market poses a challenge, but at the same time offers unexplored opportunities. On the other hand, Indian suppliers can be a valuable de-risking alternative to China due to their capacities.
